Most IPTV problems are not about the service. They come from a weak home connection. Here is a simple way to check yours.
Rules of thumb
A common guide is around 5 to 10 Mbps for each HD stream and about 25 Mbps for each 4K stream. If two or three screens watch at once, add them up, and leave room for phones and laptops on the same network.
How to test
Run a speed test on the same device and in the same room where you watch, at the time you usually watch, which is often the busy evening. Results next to the router can look great while the living room struggles.
Fix buffering
- Move the router closer, or off the floor and out of cupboards.
- Use a cable between your device and router where you can.
- Restart the router and the device if they have been on for weeks.
- Close other heavy use such as large downloads during the evening.
- Use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices when your router offers it.
When to upgrade
